During the month of February, to celebrate Black History Month, our students were deeply engaged in learning about Black history, exploring the stories, achievements, and contributions of influential Black leaders, inventors, artists, and activists. As a culmination of their hard work, students created projects that were displayed in a Museum Walk event. During the event, families will had the opportunity to walk through the exhibit and view student-created presentations, posters, artwork, and research projects. Black History Month celebrations also included visits from the Cleveland Fire Division, Vanguards of Cleveland, as part of the "Read To Succeed" literacy program with author/firefighter Allen Green. Firefighter Green is the Fire & Life Safety Educator for the Chattanooga Fire Department and his book, "Mom! Dad! What Should I Do?" The story is followed by questions, diagrams and more helpful tips for families to make sure their loved ones stay safe during fire emergencies.
